Elegant and sophisticated. The most famous hotel in Sorrento, the Edwardian Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria (established 1834), perches on a secluded cliff-side in five acres of private gardens near to Piazza Tasso, the main square in Sorrento. Whilst the driveway leads from the busy square, the hotel is able to maintain its peaceful atmosphere as it is set back in park land. The hotel and terraces are famous for their breathtaking views and have played host to many celebrities including Richard Wagner, Enrico Caruso, Jack Lemmon, Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren.
