The affectionately nick-named ‘Pink Palace’ has been an LA landmark for over 100 years.
An iconic setting on Sunset Boulevard, distinctive architecture and design, and timeless glamour combine to create one of the region’s most renowned hotels, which is now part of the luxurious Dorchester Collection. In its 1930s and 1940s heyday the hotel was patronised by the likes of Fred Astaire, Elizabeth Taylor, Charlie Chaplin and Clark Gable, and as you step into the grounds you can really sense the history and rich heritage of the property. Set in tropical gardens you get a feeling of tranquillity and privacy that you might not expect from a city hotel, and there are plenty of quiet corners to retreat to. The palm-lined pool is one of the hotel’s most popular spots and there are poolside private cabanas that can be rented by the day. There’s also an elegant spa on site offering around 40 treatments.
As well as the plentiful dining opportunities in the region, as well as Beverly Hills itself, the hotel plays host to the popular casual Cabana Café, a favourite with locals, celebrities and hotel guests alike. Open from 10am to 6pm the café serves an all-day breakfast as well as many light meals such as fresh salads and sandwiches. For a taste of vintage yet upscale Americana don’t miss the Fountain Coffee Room which first opened in the late 1940s. Here you can enjoy the staple dishes of any American diner such as burgers, ice creams and baked pastries and pies. It’s at this hotel you’ll find one of the best restaurants in Beverly Hills – the Polo Lounge which is currently rated the number one restaurant on tripadvisor. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner either indoors or al fresco, and if you are feeling peckish late in the evening, there are late-night suppers served here too.
The hotels rooms, suites and bungalows are located throughout the hotel’s grounds, either in the main building or the Bungalow Gardens. The Superior Guestrooms and Deluxe Guestrooms with Balcony are located in the main building, with the latter a little more spacious and featuring a balcony with views of the city or garden. If you wish to be tucked away in the meticulously tendered gardens we recommend upgrading to a Bungalow Guestroom which share one of the one-storey bungalows. The beautiful Beverly Hills Suites offer a separate living room and a bathroom with shower and a Jacuzzi bath.
