Day 1 Yogyakarta (1D)
Hop on a cycle-rickshaw and explore all the city has to offer, including the Sultan's Palace, markets, and the batik and puppetry workshops of Yogya. Options include shopping or taking in a Wayang Kulit shadow puppet show or a Ramayana dance performance.
Day 2 Yogyakarta (1B)
Enjoy an excursion to the Buddhist Temple complex of Borobudur, alongside a local guide. In your free time, opt to visit Kraton, an 18th century palace or Taman Sari Water Castle.
Day 3 Yogyakarta (1B)
Visit Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Java. Continue on to Surakarta, where we visit the Mangkunegaran Palace for a traditional dance class and enjoy afternoon tea.
Day 4 Yogyakarta/Surakarta (1B)
Take an excursion to the slopes of Mount Lawu including a visit to the Candi Cetho and Candi Sukuh Temples. Opt to visit the Batik Museum.
Day 5 Surakarta (1B)
Jump on a train and journey to the colonial city of Malang. Enjoy free time to visit local parks, markets, or temples.
Day 6 Surakarta/Malang (1B)
Take a scenic excursion to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park by jeep to catch the sunrise. We then ascend to the top of Mt Bromo, part of the Tengger Caldera, the largest volcanic range in the area. Later, visit the volcanology office at Mt Bromo and meet with one of the experts who will explain how they monitor the volcano and discuss the 2010 eruption.
Day 7 Malang (1B, 1L)
Catch a flight and transfer to Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali and our base for the next three nights.
Day 8 Malang/Ubud (1B)
Enjoy a cooking class with a local chef who will accompany us to the morning markets and a visit to a rice field, helping us learn about the staples of Balinese cooking. We will later gather at our chef's home, where we'll learn how to make a traditional offering, followed by a lively cooking class and lunch. We can enjoy our afternoon at leisure.
Day 9 Ubud (1B, 1L)
Explore the spiritual side of Bali, following mountain roads through the jungle to visit Tirta Empul Temple, its bubbling springs believed to hold curative powers. Continue to Gunung Kawi, a Hindu temple complex surrounded by terraced rice fields. Eventually make your way to Kintamani, perched 1500m (4921 ft) above sea level on the edge of a crater overlooking Lake Batur, with active Mount Batur towering above. Arrive in Sanur this evening.
Day 10 Ubud/Sanur (1B)
Explore Sanur and enjoy a visit to the southern beaches of Dream Land and Padang Padang and the clifftop Uluwatu Temple. This evening, opt to join our CEO for a farewell dinner at Pecatu Hill, overlooking the lights of Kuta and the largest Vishnu Statue in the world.
