Step back in time at the historic sites of the American Eastern Seaboard on a weeklong tour by rail. Stroll the cobblestoned streets of colonial Boston, and take in landmarks of New York City and the serene marble monuments and vast green spaces of Washington, DC (with a visit to the more-than-a-century-old headquarters of National Geographic). This trip is just the ticket for history buffs.
Day 1 Boston
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Boston
Walk the Freedom Trail with a local history expert. It showcases some of the most historically significant sites that shaped the nation, and you'll learn about the beginnings of the American Revolution as it began in Boston. This afternoon is free to explore the city. Opt to visit Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, or try and catch a Red Sox game.
Day 3 Boston/New York
Catch the train to New York City. This afternoon, enjoy a photo walk with a local photographer through the trendy Bushwick neighbourhood. With vibrant street art, a German beer history, and a melting pot of culture, we'll have numerous opportunities for some great shots. We'll also visit a few local shops for tastings and samples.
Day 4 New York
Enjoy a full free day (and night) to explore the city that never sleeps. Opt to stroll Times Square or Central Park, catch a show, visit museums, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, or the 9/11 Memorial.
Day 5 New York/Philadelphia
Catch our train and continue on to Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. Visit some of the American Revolutionary sites including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall — where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed.
Day 6 Philadelphia/Washington D.C.
Continue by train to the capital, Washington DC. This evening, enjoy a walk with our CEO along the National Mall with the opportunity to view its iconic monuments and memorials including the Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pool, Vietnam Veterans, Korean War, and WWII memorials.
Day 7 Washington D.C.
This morning, we visit the National Geographic headquarters for a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about the history of the society, its explorers' past and present and what the future holds as they continue their pursuit of exploration, education, and storytelling to change the world. The afternoon is at your leisure. Opt to visit the many free museums, parks, or take a stroll past the White House.
Day 8 Washington D.C.
