AccommodationThe resort’s 17 hand-crafted, wooden eco-lodges are all unique and stylishly decorated, blending in as seamlessly as possible with the surrounding nature. Nestled into the hillside with abundant rainforest behind, each lodge has been positioned to make the most of the spectacular ocean views and cooling sea breezes, and features one or two bedrooms, a full kitchen, complimentary WiFi, an in-room safe and private deck or shared terrace with double hammock. FacilitiesNature is a huge part of Castara’s appeal and the hotel is set in two acres of tropical gardens which offer excellent opportunities for bird and wildlife watching. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk away down a winding footpath and is a great spot for swimming, sunbathing or just getting to know the friendly locals. Castara Bay has a wonderful reef, teeming with life and colour, and the snorkelling here is particularly enjoyable. Castara Retreat’s Wellness Studio runs daily yoga classes, which can be booked on arrival, whilst 1:1 yoga sessions and a range of massage treatments are available on request. For those wanting to get out and about to explore the island, a wide variety of activities can be recommended, such as rainforest walks, birdwatching, diving, snorkelling, bioluminescence paddling boarding, island tours and boat trips.
Important InformationThe accommodation at Castara is located on a hillside and is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. There is a small fee, payable locally, for the rental of sun loungers on the beach. There is a cash machine in Castara and credit cards are accepted at the hotel, but guests are advised to travel with sufficient cash for the duration of their stay.
