Let us introduce you to the fun side of South Africa, with experiences such as a Cape Town treasure hunt, searching for penguins on a secret beach, and family-friendly game drives. Days 1 - 4 Start your South Africa experience with five nights in one of Cape Town’s top hotels, One&Only Cape Town. On the V&A Waterfront, between Robben Island and Table Mountain, this is the perfect location to start exploring. Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain to get the lay of the land, then head back down to sea level for a treasure hunt by bicycle. With the help of your guide, follow a map to find the clues and learn a little about Cape Town’s history and people along the way. The next day, start with a canopy walk in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, before heading out to Kalk Bay to see the seals, then on in search of penguins on a lesser-known local beach. Continue to Cape Point and take the funicular to the lighthouse for impressive views. Spend your final day in Cape Town relaxing, souvenir shopping, enjoying the local restaurant scene or taking in more of the city’s picturesque beaches. Day 5 Today, tour the winelands with your private guide, and while the adults are wine tasting, the kids can sample grape juice and chocolates. Lunch is a traditional barbecue that the kids can help cook, while a Segway tour or birds of prey experience can be added (at an extra charge). Return to Cape Town and overnight. Days 6 - 8 Today you’ll move east to the town of Hermanus, renowned as one of the best whale watching destinations in the world, complete with the only Whale Crier, who blows a horn every time a whale is spotted! Spend three nights at Grootbos Garden Lodge, overlooking the town. Enjoy complimentary activities including hikes in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, spectacular coastal drives, horse riding through the surf, cave tours and much more. Days 9 - 12 Transfer to Cape Town airport for your flight via Johannesburg to Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa’s North West Province for four nights at Tuningi Safari Lodge. Madikwe is malaria free, so it’s perfect for families, and the lodge is set next to a wateringhole enabling close up game viewing opportunities. Of course, morning and afternoon game drives are included here and the reserve is well known for its wild dogs, as well as the Big Five. Lions in particular are a big draw, with their hunts for large prey such as giraffe, making for spectacular viewings. Day 13 Fly to Johannesburg, with the option to head onwards to other parts of this alluring continent, or connect to your return flight back to the UK. Important Information: Please note, some park fees/conservation levies are not included as they must be paid locally.Discover other hotels in Africa or have you considered the rest of South Africa, USA, Europe and Indian Ocean?
