From the cobbled streets of one of the world’s highest capitals, to the extraordinary Galapagos Islands, spectacular treasures await you on this Ecuador tour. Take a Galapagos cruise and marvel at the incredible beauty of Darwin’s laboratory. Here you’ll explore the iconic islands and their unique wildlife. Back on land, relax into the slower pace of hacienda life before bartering for handmade souvenirs in Latin America’s most famous market.
DAY 1
UK - Quito
Maximise your holiday time by flying overnight to Quito.
DAY 2
Quito
Arrive at one of Latin America's most impressive cities. Quito, one of the highest capitals in the world, is perched in the foothills of the Andes, just 12 miles north of the middle of the world. The city is UNESCO protected due to its unaltered centre and carefully preserved buildings. Explore the buzzing central plaza by day and at night, enjoy the sophisticated bars and restaurants.
DAY 3
Quito - Galapagos
You leave the cultural delights of Quito behind this morning to fly to Baltra Island. From here you'll enjoy a startling showcase of biodiversity, an isolated group of wild and wildlife laden volcanic islands, The Galapagos.
DAYS 4-9
Galapagos Islands
Cruising the famous waters is undoubtedly the best way to explore Darwin’s laboratory. Comprised of 13 volcanic islands, the Galapagos are populated by extraordinary creatures. Watch blue-footed boobies prance around statuesque rocks, or snorkel with sea lions and myriad colourful fish. You can explore the moon-like landscapes and sumptuous sandy beaches. On some you can easily confuse the numerous iguanas for rocks scattering the sand. Every day offers a different island, bay or cove to explore and species to discover.
DAY 10
Galapagos - Otavalo
Your sea adventure must come to an end, but your Ecaudor tour continues! From here, fly back Quito to be whisked away to the highlands. Here you’ll experience true relaxation as you slip into the quieter pace of hacienda life.
DAY 11
Otavalo
Today you’re free to admire the rolling hills and experience the leisurely pace of hacienda life. Explore the ranch and try your hand at traditional farming methods. In the afternoon, take a peaceful stroll or trot on horseback through the lush green valleys.
DAY 12
Quito
Head off to the busy town of Otavalo, home to a large indigenous population and one of the most important markets in the Andes. For thousands of years, traders have come to sell their dizzying array of textiles here. You can bargain for the exceptional weavings and tapestries the region is famous for, before heading off to Quito.
DAY 13
Quito - UK
Make certain that all your souvenirs are packed and ready to go before you catch your late morning flight back home.
