The palazzo was built in 1600 by Pope Alexander Vll as a wedding gift to nobleman Giulio de’ Gori and is the grandest palace to be found in the historical centre of Siena, situated a few steps from the famous Piazza del Campo and the cathedral. An impressive, traditional lobby leads to a covered courtyard, now a stylish and contemporary restaurant serving delicious light dishes and more hearty Tuscan cuisine. Guests will also enjoy the wine bar which was carved out of the limestone base of the Mediaeval tower at the heart of the building. There is a stunning first floor salon with outstanding 17th century hand-painted ceilings and walls. Many of the 69 spacious bedrooms and suites also have original frescoes, combined with the latest comforts.
